Take it from a former CPU shareholder.
CPU is NOT serious competition. They can't get out of their own way!

Joel,
Thanks for the post regarding COMP USA's decision to enter the video game arena. I must point out that training of store personal and inventory control are absolutely critical for a successful business model in the world of gaming. For "old salts" like EB just another day at the office, since they have some of the most knowledgeable sales associates in the business. Also, their state of the art distribution center is capable of restocking each of their 550+ domestic stores five times per week (or as needed).
I believe a company like COMP USA will find that getting up and running in this business is not as easy as they might think. EB has spent the last 22 years building an extremely loyal following of avid gamers by being the first with product and having the right mix of product. They have also been able to establish a very personal relationship with their customers via the small store (boutique) approach that I think loses something in a superstore format. It will be interesting, moving forward, to see what additional interest COMP USA's entry into the field will generate in the investment community. Obviously, COMP USA understands that the gaming business is an exploding market place and this is behind their reasoning to get involved. Better late than never? We shall see.
Good luck to you
