Slacker - I know a lot of us have assumed that CDMA2000 is well ahead of W-CDMA, but if NTT Docomo actually gets a system up and running by spring of 2001, I'm not so sure. Is everybody just assuming that their date will slip?

If NTT does actually get a volume system running by spring 2001 then W-CDMA might indeed be neck and neck with CDMA-2000. But the big roadblock is going to be getting a system online which can handle a large number of users. It took a while for Qualcomm to works the kinks out in such circumstances, and it will for W-CDMA as well. Maybe engineer can remember how long it took Airtouch to get the system going (I was only marginally aware of CDMAOne at the time).
