FOMC = Greenspan, June 29 and/or 30. Always lots of hand-wringing about whether they will raise interest rates, even though inflation hasn't been this low for any 12-month period since 1966. Oddly, this time everybody figures that they will, so it doesn't matter. The tortured pretense of drama is even more "pro forma" than usual this time.

Note that it corresponds nicely to the end of the calendar quarter as well, which is always ripe for the dumping of crummy stocks and the buying of new ones.
