Excuse me, YZ fool and others...I am not buying on *margin*. I took a cash advance on a credit card sent it into E*trade and bought stocks. I could have just as easily gone to Europe this summer with that money. And taken cash advances in London on my credit card to see West End shows, pay for a pensione on the Seine and drink cappacinos in Venice with nothing left to show for it except some good memories. Sounds like many here would have preferred I buy a big screen TV. Luckily for me I have a big screen TV and the swimming pool...and while I am at it...one of the top 10 beaches in the world in my front yard. Sorry if my buying stock with a cash advance doesn't appeal to many of you. I know my risk tolerance. I am lucky enough to have plenty of income and cash to cover a $16,500 loss---if that ever occurred. Doesn't make me smarter or better than anyone here. But I have been fortunate in my economic level.
So, I don't lose sleep at night on borrowing "cheap" money.

As for the remarks about my "panicking" and selling HSAC...well I have IPO shares...and I sure don't plan on flipping them. I am wondering when you think is an appropriate time for me to sell so it doesn't offend anyone? Believe me I run across traders and flippers here at SI on a daily basis. Should I count them as my enemy? Or just understand that we all have different *investing* styles in the stock market.

I tend to be long by nature on most of my holdings, that is why I have several splits with AOL under my belt. I have my long list...I usually subscribe to the buy and hold philosophy. All bought and paid for with hard earned cash! All told it would pay for my borrowed funds 15 times over. In fact...I have such a hard time selling stocks...that is why I took advantage of this "cheap" loan.

With this *borrowed* money...I am dabbling in trading just a bit. So far I have 9 stocks with that money and sold only a few. I am waiting for splits, earnings reports, mergers and acquistions on several of these stocks. I will sell them when I am ready.

However, I don't think my "borrowing" cash to buy stocks will be responsible for the demise of HSAC or the next crash of the stock market. So lets move on.

Aloha,
Mary
