Quite possible you didn't complete all the instructions to open your account. The account number comes up at the end and should be entered on the application and the front of your check(if mailed)

If you opened it online, there was a screen (was it Step 9??)that said "New Account Acknowledgement" that has the acount number. At least that's how it worked for me. Hope that helps and good luck!
