I can vouch for the patent process. I was just granted a patent which was filed about 3 years ago. I could hardly remember what it was about! Anyway, it's a very slow process.

I agree with the poster who said that the reaction will be to sell the news. The only thing moving the stock up now is hype and what they finally unveil will not justify the price. The fact that they are trying to do this without collaborating with any of the important players makes their chances of success very slim.

But I'm certainly interested in seeing what they have at the end of the month if only for the sake of curiosity.

Then it could be months or even years before it issues.

My IP attorney told me it was between 3-4 years for software patents. Mechanical ones are in less demand theoretically could issue in months.

the number of useless patents we have been granted.

:-). Depending on your business, even lame patents can be used as leverage if you have good attorneys.
