You are so off base. I am not intentionally doing anything wrong. I didn't think I was clever and neither am I boasting.
You are arguing semantics here. It was a cash advance period!
It is billed as a cash advance the same way if I used an ATM machine. Would you have a problem with me taking the money from an ATM machine and then giving it to E*TRADE?????? Look at your credit card bill and notice how it lists Purchases and Cash Advances separately???? I am free to use my "credit card checks" for either one!!! I could have deposited those checks into my bank account and then forwarded them to E*trade. Cash Advances (loans) *usually* have a higher interest rate attached to them versus a purchase using my card directly. It discourages most people from taking the "cash advance"

Get off your soap box...and stop crying fire. People take cash advances all the time to buy stocks, hamburgers or whatever else they choose to do with this money. It certainly would not be recommended by most financial advisors (so no cleverness on my part)...but it is not illegal. You have misinterpreted this whole issue and are showing your lack of insight!

OT...cash advance check...I am now looking at my American Express cardmember agreement.

Quote: "You can use these checks anywhere personal checks are welcome".

Well, last I checked (no pun intended) E*trade welcomes personal checks!

Aloha,
Mary

How can you make such a statement when Dytech Funding (forgive spelling) is running national ads for home equity loans with the line "Buy that hot stock!" ???
