>>>>>Neuroanatomically and chemical soup are very subtly different<<<<

Can I be left-brained here for a minute?

I analogize neurons to wires. Analogize synapses to speakers (they look kinda like speakers) and I guess microphones, too, at the same time. The impulse comes down from the brain (or up from the sensory neuron) down the wire to the speaker-synapse, and the signals come out (neurotransmitters - serotonin, calcium, like that) and they go to the microphone-synapse, and the signal goes on down the next wire.

Isn't the "soup" what's in the blood and the lymph? Maybe, I'll concede for the sake of the argument(see, this is really left-brained) that the neurotransmitters are "soup."

But I don't think the architecture, aka neuroanatomy, is "soup."

Unless you mean, maybe, that "it" isn't "me" - that "me" is subject to "it" but "it" can change and "I" am always me.

Before I head off to bed- Ammo and I went to see Star Wars this afternoon.
(Remember when the scalpers were getting all that money for tickets? THere were five of us in this giant theatre)
It took our new mythology thesis even further- even providing a virgin birth for Anakin.
Anyway- when we came out, Ammo said, "Wow, that thing was sure full of archetypes."
Cracked me up.

Neuroanatomically and chemical soup are very subtly different, but that is diversion. Essentially they are the same, a sort of what what Sam Ferguson at Feelies taught me is "hylozoism". The belief that the numinous and the mundane are the SAME, that God resides within matter and is made of it. The Universe commands God - not the other way around.

Sounds more like pantheism to me. Hylozoism is the reassuring doctrine that yes, your chair indeed does have An Inner Life. Hylozoism and panpsychism are offered as counters to the idea that matter is inert and without Spirit. One fun aspect of all three of these ideas is that your favorite serial killer gets to be God, too. So do cats. So does Sam Ferguson.
