I don't think there are many people who doubt the strength of Intel brand. The ad dollars of one of the most successful companies ever makes sure that is the case. But, at the end of the day, someone has to quantify what it is worth.

Look at the retail sales numbers - AMD is in more than 42% of the desktops and and above 48% of the laptops (PC Data - May 99). This starting from almost nothing (especially on the laptop side) 6 months back. That got to mean something!

How true. It surprise me that people(and most analysts) make
it sound so straight forward that performance or MHz is the
one and only reason that make Intel so profitable. As you said,
there is many other pieces that people never look at.

Are you talking about Coppermine?

Coppermine is such a great chip.

I can't wait until November when such a great chip is released on time.

Intel is so great that they can make such a great chip that will come out on time in November.

Intel doesn't need extra help.

Intel is great.
