Abridgement or Us "Us" is a comfortable word. Most people have very comfortable "us" levels, some do not. -that which is not me- does not include "us", consider it a second tier Universe, me first, "us" second. It is a common fallacy to believe that we can see "us", because we can't, we have to feel "us". That old lady was probably exactly like us. Not an object, but "us", right up to the Final Option Call and beyond. For what it is worth, reject this explanation as well. Maybe she was sunk so far in the depths of a private dementia that she had no real connection to your "us" or my "us" at all.
