OT <Are you really in Santiago?>

Yes. This evening we had one of the most beautiful sunsets over the Cordillera de los Andes. From the city you see the whole mountain range and here it is winter so it is snow capped. The sky was lightly clouded. The mountains turned completely purple-red.

That are the moments that you need to take your eyes of the screen, where most of us SI-ers are glued to. Some weeks ago, the same view but with a clear sky. Then the full moon came up behind the snowcapped redcolored mountains. No camera, otherwise I would send you the picture.

For pictures of Chile: type "fotos Chile" in Metacrawler and select "all"

My prediction is that the major change of the Internet for Chile will be the dramatic increase of tourists visiting the country. Number of holidays will have to be doubled in 5 years. I mean, the higher productivity should be translated in more free time. And Chile is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Nice people and safer than the states. Meanwhile, airfares are falling. You can pick up a round trip to Chile for less than 800.

Visit Easter Island, Robinson Crusoe Islands, Patagonia, Chungarai Lakes, Vulcanos, Deserts, beaches, surfing.

Recently I bought some land near the coast. In the South there are still areas where you buy 10.000 square meters for 100 dollars.

This has caused a row in Chile, because Tompkins, the former owner of O'Neill has bought a couple of hundred square kms which cuts actually the country in two parts (the country is only 100 km wide). He is maintaining the natural habitat you still find in large parts of the country.
