Reliance Industries has announced its intentions to get its shares listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in the next 6 months.

The company also plans top double polyester capacity to 1.2 m tonnes over the next three years to emerge the lowest-cost effective manufacturer, and figure amongst the top three producers of polyester in the world.

Reliance with a turnover of Rs 145 bn is currently the 5th largest polyester staple fibre producer and 6th largest polyester filament yarn producer in the world. Reliance plans to increase the capacity of its multi-feed naphtha cracker to produce a million tonees of ethylene from 0.75 m tonnes at present.

After the completion of its Jamnagar petrochemicals complex, Reliance's total capacity to produce petrochemicals and downstream products will increase to 9 m tonnes from 7.05 m tonnes presently. This exercise on which Reliance plans to spend Rs 10 bn a year will increase its capacity to 10 m tonnes.
