Any more bad news out there? Management thinks the best return on their cash is to buy 3Com stock.

You may very be well right on the money ... then again this train isn't roll to a stop so you can get back on. I don't "think" we will see lows twenties ... yes there's bad news but there's a lot news that's going noticed ... so I'd rather be on rather than bottom fish this puppy. Besides my entry is in the low twenties anyway....

Here is my 2 Cents.

Consolidation is this sector is inevitable. It's not COMS does or does not want to merge or be merged with others, although we all agree COMS to be bought out is more likely. COMS will be gobbled up for sure, imo. Even CSCO is feeling the price pressure on all product fronts. The market just cannot accommodate so many players, period.

Now, what happen to you, the shareholders' benefit? Well, I don't know COMS will dip how low from here, but let's face it, $1.7 billion cash on hand, zero debt, 25 P/E, in a high tech industry sector, how low can it go? On the up side, let's take a look at its siblings – Bay and Ascend. If you bought Bay at the low two years ago and still holding it today, it runs about 300% profit as of today. Ascend? Ha ha ha… you tell me. If you think getting out of all the mess on the day of acquisition will be the ultimate happiness, you would be true idiot if you do that.

I think the company is on the right track. I definitely don't want to be in EB's position for he is the second most hated CEO after Al Dunlap, but think carefully, is he a real stupid in such a place as the center of Silicon Valley and he doesn't know more than you do? Hmmm...
