It doesn't ruin it for me in the mental place where I "live", as much as make me feel that I can't say things here unless I have some scientific basis for saying them- that the meaning gets lost because I can't back it up with some reference material- and since I have no scientific background, I get inhibited, and then it's not fun (for me). I feel as if I have to defend everything I say in an academic sense. But I don't mean in any way to curtail you guys who love that stuff-- (not that you're curtailable).
