I simply forgot the protein part.

Very true.
I learned this formula in 1991 when I found, to my great
chagrin, that I had slowly gained about 15 pounds more
than I needed. I was horrified.

I did something that I had never done before. I bought a
new dress that was 2 sizes smaller than I was currently
wearing and vowed to wear it to my aunt's wedding that was
scheduled for March 9. I started the diet on February 15
(day after Valentine's day) and wore the dress to the
wedding. I continued thereafter and ended up losing over
20 pounds, to less than I had even weighed in high school

I desisted after a while as people thought I had gone overboard.

Since then, if I've gained a few pounds, I just go back on the diet for a few days, and voila....

The truth is that I try to stay with the general princples all
the time.

Good eating habits require a lifelong commitment.<sigh>
