I wish we had the chance to meet up and walk the show together.

From my perspective, I enjoy going around to see what each vendor is doing and where they are moving with their new and current products. I often look to find the technical people at these exhibits and not the sales/cheerleader types.

It's true that most of the attendees are looking for the freebies. I worked more than a handful of these tradeshows for AOL and I can tell you first hand that it's a ZOO atmosphere.

When I was up at Novell's booth I was impressed to see the amount of people there. Even if it was for that silly umbrella, they at least sat thru the demo and if anything, they now understand what a directory is. Hopefully, this is a good thing down the line.

Of course anything with the word SHOW in it is more flash than substance. BrainShare was more real than PC Expo or Comdex but I'd expect that to be true. My only real concern was the absence of ANYTHING digitalme. PC Expo is so orientated towards consumers and having a working demo of digitalme and some hype along with it would have been a tremendous thing especially in a place like New York City.

Next time you come to my neck of the woods, please send me a message. I'd love to meet up and chat. By the way, we had Novell Consulting help us with a presentation which included ManageWise/ZENworks, GroupWise 5.5, NetWare 5.0 and BorderManager Enterprise 3.0. Our proposal is being submitted as I type this and from what I've heard from a source is that its almost a done deal.

People can complain about Novell Consulting's new image all they want but let me have some more please :)
