My guess is the infrastucture is highly automated at B&D, or Galli led the charge there or something and that is what Bezos was after. Hard goods manufacturing is where a lot of hot ERP stuff is going on, especially the smaller goods, hand held items etc. where logistics is key (distribution etc.). But these companies are pretty secretive about their internal processes, so there is probably no way to tell what Galli actually did at B&D... however, B&D sounds like the right kind of goods producer to recruit from to me.
