DJ IBM, Rational Software In Electronic-Business Venture

SOMERS, N.Y. (Dow Jones)--International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) and Rational
Software Corp. (RATL) formed an alliance to develop and market electronic business
software.

In a press release Monday, Rational Software said the two companies plan to integrate
Rational Suite with software from the IBM Application Framework for e-business.

Under the first phase of the partnership, the two companies will integrate IBM's
VisualAge with Rational Suite through an add-in available for download Wednesday.

Rational Software makes software development programs.
