Buckey...If it's de-listed, that means that NO shares can trade hands and no dollar value can be put on them...Therefore, the longs and the shorts loose...

The shorts cannot get delivery of any share certificates to cover their positions and the longs can not put a value on their certs in order to sell them...

If that was the case, I would have offered my Bre-X and Bresea paper out to the shorts a long time ago (plus a few other ones)...

Hi John,
Dont know about covering during a halt but maybe this is of interest:

MO on this topic comes from the Bre-x days. I looked into shorting Bre-X and was posed with the question on how to cover if it was halted pending the news (on the downside). I was assured that if it tanked and was delisted (like it did) it would be up and trading on the CDN pretty quickly so people could cover there. Most delisted stocks pop up there from time to time and have listed quotations through the market maker. As it was, Nesbitt (whom I was dealing with) said I could not short (something about protecting the interests of clients (LOL)), so I don't have first hand knowledge of covering in this way.

A friend did get to short and covered at 0.05, I think this way.

Regards,

Dean
