Actually Richard is more right than wrong here

Yeah.. whatever you say, DoubleD.

You guys are never wrong, I forgot.

My apologies.

But according to Stratfor, Japan spent $48 BILLION (yes, that's with a big "B") last year on defense. They also pick up the tab for over 1/2 (and maybe all now) US military expenditures for housing US troops in Japan proper. That amounted to $6 Billion annually in 1994 (the most recent data I could find).

stratfor.com

So for everything you want to know about the Japanese Self-Defence forces, you can take a little trip here:

jda.go.jp

Personally, I find most of your opinions representative of typical US bias and stereotyping. First we destroy their military and force them to make constitutional statements forbidding a Japanese military (calling it instead, a self-defense force). Then we complain that Japan isn't pulling their fair share.

But wasn't the idea to limit a return of Japanese military strength what we originally had in mind after WWII???

Hmmm... Be careful what you ask for. You might just get it.

Regards,

Ron

Do you know why the U.S. is still in Japan after all of these years?

I am sure most, on this thread think it is due to U.S. concerns about China or North Korea getting too aggressive with out the U.S. presence.

WRONG!
