New Intel CA810 Motherboard Packs Performance, 3-D Graphics, Audio, and Protection Into Value-Priced Package
Intel(R) Celeron(TM) Processor, 810 Chipset with Direct AGP, SoundBlaster(1) Audio, Optional LAN Controller Fill Out Feature-Rich Solution
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 25, 1999-- Intel Corporation today announced the Intel® CA810 motherboard, a comprehensive and cost-effective solution for systems integrators that supports the Intel Celeron(TM) processor and brings both high-quality 3-D graphics and on-board audio to the value PC segment.
The MicroATX form factor CA810 motherboard incorporates the recently announced Intel 810 chipset, a major advancement in chipset technology that integrates Intel 3-D graphics with Direct AGP to offer vivid 2-D and 3-D effects and images. Combining the 810 chipset with the on-board Creative Labs(1) SoundBlaster(1) PCI audio subsystem, the CA810 motherboard offers a dependable, multimedia feature-rich PC solution for value-minded manufacturers and customers.
In addition, the CA810 supports Intel's Suspend To RAM technology, which enables PCs to enter a power-saving ''sleep state'' during idle periods, then quickly ''wake up'' on command without the time-consuming shutdown/restart/reboot process.
An optional Intel 82559 LAN controller provides a fully integrated, managed platform with network connectivity for small businesses. Remote hardware management with the LANDesk® Client Manager is also available.
'Great Performance, Exceptional Value'
''With support for Celeron processors at speeds from 300 to 466 MHz, the CA810 motherboard delivers great performance at an exceptional value,'' said B.C. Ooi, vice president of Intel's Desktop Products Group and general manager, OEM Platform Solutions Division.
''For consumers, the CA810's next-generation platform technologies have every feature end users need to get started on the Internet. For small business users, it offers both connectivity and manageability at a substantially lower total cost of ownership.''
Through the recently announced Intel Motherboard Software Program, boxed CA810 motherboards also offer a selection of premium antivirus and Internet protection software from Symantec Corporation, NovaStor Corporation, PC Guardian, Inc., and Finjan Software, Inc.
The CA810 supports up to 512 MB of SDRAM in two 168-pin sockets and includes dual USB connectors, an integrated IDE accelerator with Ultra ATA/66 disk I/O, and four PCI slots. As with other Intel motherboards, the CA810 will ship with IDE and floppy cables, I/O shield, and full documentation.
High Graphics, Audio Performance
The Intel 810 chipset achieves high graphics performance through efficient memory utilization by allocating 3-D textures directly from system memory to the integrated graphics controller. Intelligent arbitration balances use of system memory resources among tasks.
The CA810 motherboard's Creative Labs(1) Audio PCI 64 V subsystem provides excellent sound with support for downloadable wavetable and 3-D positional audio.
The new, optional Intel 82559 LAN controller enables increased productivity in networked environments through faster response time with full duplex support, multiple priority transmit, and IEEE 802.3u auto-negotiation. Advanced management features are compliant with both the ACPI standard and Intel's Wired for Management 2.0 initiative.
Price, Availability
The CA810 motherboard is available in a basic configuration including integrated graphics and audio and in an enhanced configuration, which also includes LAN and hardware manageability features. Prices are expected to range from $110 for the basic configuration to $145 for the LAN configuration. Shipments to Intel authorized distributors begin immediately.
