China will represent approximately one third of the total IT markets in the region excluding Japan by 2003. By 2000, the IT market in China is forecast to grow to US$15 billion from US$9.24 billion in 1998. This impressive growth rate, the fastest in the region, could last untill 2003. According to the IDC, China surpassed South Korea to become the second largest IT market excluding Japan in 1998, and it is expected to pull ahead of Australia in 2000 to become the No. 1 market. Source: Beijing Morning Post June 7, 1999 Symantec Unveils Latest Virus Killer: Symantec Corporation last week announced the availability of a complete virus definition set that detects and repairs PowerPoint viruses as well as the prolific 097M Tristate macro virus, which cross-infects Microsoft Office applications. The new virus definitions can be downloaded for all Symantec anti-virus products from its web-site ( symantec.com ). While other anti-virus vendors provide detection-only capabilities, Symantec is the first to provide repair of the viruses on all platforms.
