From OCT 1998 X-STREAM NETWORK ("XSNI-L") - Launches New Online Services as Subscribers Number 118,000
Within 7 1/2 months of its launch The X-Stream Network, the UK's first FREE ISP, can now boast over 118,000 registered users making it the UK's seventh largest Internet Service Provider. Not satisfied with this, X-Stream has launched three new services: X-Streamail, X-Stream Central and The X-Stream Games Network to bring added value to its loyal users. All services are FREE, true to X-Stream's form.
Since launching on March 8th, 1998, The X-Stream Network has only recommended online Web-based email services. In response to customer requests for an email service accessible offline, X-Stream is launching X-Streamail, a free POP3 email service available at mail.x-stream.co.uk. X-Streamail borrows successful features of Web-based email services, such as online registration that provides the user with an instant POP3 email account. X-Stream President Chris Sukornyk notes, "This is something that even traditional 'pay-for' ISPs have not offered. Our novel POP3 email contributes further to making The X-Stream Network a true, comprehensive Internet portal."
The X-Stream Network's new portal site, X-Stream Central, found at x-stream.co.uk, adds even more value to the UK's first FREE Internet service and has been developed through X-Streams partnership with Associated New Media, the new media publishing arm of the Daily Mail and General Trust Group. Associated New Media provides constantly updated headline news, business and sports news from the Evening Standard's multi-award winning online city guide, 'This is London' thisislondon.com. Ziff Davis, a leading International publisher of IT titles, provides daily IT news to the site.
The X-Stream Games Network, found at x-stream.gamesnetwork.com, includes hints and tips for gamers, arcade classics, trivia quizzes, new game releases and competitions. It will also enable users to play high profile, quality games, such as Quake 2 and Unreal, across the Internet as a result of X-Stream's partnership with Thrust World, a leading multi-player games company.
These two new sites were designed by Nethead Limited, a Web production company that was also responsible for the design and implementation of the former UK Web Site of the Year, for Capital Radio. In addition to these new services, The X-Stream Network will be offering 5MB of FREE Web space within the month.
Regarding X-Stream Central, Paul Myers, Managing Director of X-Stream UK stated "The X-Stream Network has chosen three powerful partners to help deliver massive value to users via its FREE service. X-Stream really has changed the UK ISP market in a way in which consumers benefit. We welcome other ISP's following in X-Stream's footsteps that offer free Internet access. Our service is already seven months ahead of the field, it has built a loyal following and has a good reputation for being reliable and providing a quality service. Users pay only local phone rates for access to the Internet and our technical support is half the price of other recently launched 'free' services. Offering free Internet access is our core business, not a sideline to encourage footfall into retail outlets."
X-Stream Technologies, Inc., the parent of X-Stream UK, is planning the launch of its free Internet service soon in other parts of the world. X-Stream President, Chris Sukornyk, commented "Pay-for Internet access will eventually become obsolete. There is an increasing demand for free Internet access in both developed and emerging markets. We intend to meet that demand by quickly becoming a global leader in Free Internet access."
This news release contains certain forward-looking statements, which may involve a number of risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from those projected.
