*Microsoft as a short* SurferM and Mr Su, I must report that Microsoft scored yet more of my money and I am delighted that they did. We now have installed Windows2000 beta version or something like that. I'm in the buckwheat category when it comes to these esoteric things [like DSPs and whether the C, D or A drives get checked first in the boot up sequence but I learned yesterday you can change the BIOS or maybe it was something else, so you don't even need a CD ROM driver anymore because the puter just checks the CD drive first and if there's a Windows2000 disc there, you are in business, or something like that, but it's another story].

What this new software does is let you use Japanese, Chinese or about 50 other languages straight into the operating system. Which means, if you are making Japanese or Chinese Web stuff, you can just use it and the operating system, email and all that stuff knows what you are talking about.

There are more Chinese than red-blooded Americans and they aren't using many puters yet. Everything I buy, including cdma2000 products in a few years, is Made In China. While I think it would be character building for them to learn English [or even American] I am not convinced that they would take to the idea like a duck to water. I suspect they will continue building their own Kanji characters and ignore me.

Microsoft will get a very, very large stack of cash, encrypted by Condor and the shareholders might laugh at those with the temerity to short MSFT.

It seems that many people love to hate $ill Gates and they allow this fanaticism to carry over to their investment behaviour. Personally, I think he deserves the dosh and hope he keeps it up. It makes my life a LOT better.

By the way, the gold rush is on for Chinese language websites. NewZealand.com, Australia.com, classroom.com and some others have already been nabbed by my puter consultant [I own 7.5% of LanguageOnLine which is an unlisted Web company].

Ramsey, try a few Chinese language .coms and see if you can get anything. All the main stuff is taken. If you find some good ones not taken, let me know [will pay commission].

Microsoft is big, but I'm not sure it is to extinct dinosaur size yet - I checked the bible and it didn't report a maximum market capitalisation allowable. My guess is that it can get a LOT bigger yet before it starts to threaten the USA or United Nations power, especially if it Condorizes [disappears into the Web and nobody can see it anymore and it lives there like a spirit being].

Mqurice

[Okay, that's getting a bit off the wall, but that's what languageonline {LOL} will do].

I now see Limtex explains my point well,

Don't forget, Microsoft own half of WirelessKnowledge. Not to mention other stuff.
