Hi D..

Do you have that line dedicated to your PC or is it shared with a phone?

Actually neither. The line comes into the house through my phone box outside and then plugs into a 4 port router inside. The router lets me connect 4 of my PCs in different areas of the house (standard twisted pair cable) to the line. Voila!! Instant internet access anywhere in the house... well, almost anywhere! And it is a dedicated line so is not part of my phone system. Unlike an ISDN line which you can share a phone with, this is strictly for DSL service. It's always connected, so there's no dialup.

I had thought it would also serve as a hub to replace my coax network and get them all working together, but so far I haven't figured out how to change the router settings for that. I could connect all the PCs into a hub and then connect the hub to the router, and that would take care of it. Maybe later on that one if I can't get the other to work. Ah, speed... nothing like it.

Chuck... thinking this is maybe more than D wanted to know
