Hey, Weby... More Ruminating On AOL...

Well, it seems that the rumor earlier this year that AOL would be giving away some sort of appliance in exchange for a subscription to some sort of premium service seems to have now been confirmed. The Microworkz deal IS the confirmation.

What remains to be seen is whether or not, as I contend, WAVX gets in this free device. My original theory about PCFree--based on some rooting around on their links page--was that AOL was involved there.
Wrong.

It would seem almost baffling if WAVX WEREN'T in this AOL "ISP/PC convergence" mix... given that the chip can cut off a device if you ain't paying on time... etc.
Maybe it's another blow for freedom struck by the friendly folks at Hauppauge. Maybe the device will featured the "digital" WinTV and thus enable inTelicast. Ahhhh... the wonderful maybes.

We shall see what we shall see. Best Regards,

c m

Weby,

I think I touched on this on one of the other boards. Steven was asked that very question....."when massive deployment starts how long do you think it will take to reach to 100,000,000 unit mark?" He responed that he thought that the deployment curve would mirror that of CD ROMS and modems in that initially they were flat but when they became standard equipment they ramped up very rapidly. He would not commit to an exact time frame exactly. Not a lot of info here but those are his thoughts on the subject.
