Elmer, <no information on what operating system was used. Were they run under Win98?> "Eengineer-investor", go relax. Weekend by the way. For your information, SPEC never runs under Windows98, only under NT4 and various Unix flavours. If Intel runs SPEC under NT4 (and they really do, you can check spec.org), so AMD does - no other choice. Otherwise you cannot compare.

"Now we have an "announcement" that was really just a smokescreen to try and ease the blow of the devastating news of a $200Million+ loss upcoming." The smokescreen seems to be working. "No benchmarks and the silly unverifiable relative comparisons were done on a motherboard that is "unavailable" and no information on what operating system was used." Why should an Athlon motherboard be available when the chip isn't available. "Clearly there would have been no "announcement" if it weren't for the disastrous financial news." I think there would. For over a year, AMD had been saying 1H '99. "Has Intel recovered? I hope not. They need to get their butt in gear on the outside chance that by some unimaginable mistake AMD actually pulls this off." Are you, too, saying the Athlon has potential?
