To a large extent Nortel and tellabs do not compete because Nortel's primary products are switches and Sonet muxes, whereas Tellabs primary products are cross connects. Tellabs cross connects by far are the best in the market. Re Nortel and tellabs, they could become competitors in the future, if Nortel ventures into Tellabs' product areas and vice versa (e.g DWDM).

LLWK, I believe that's the 3rd time that article has been referenced or quoted.

One: it's now dated.
Two: no responses previously that i recall.
Three: it's one writer's opinion of "Some analysts said.."
Four: Tellabs maintains very strong relationships with the RBOC's.
Five: Product lines are narrower by choice.

I quite honestly found the article boring.
