Let me try to get something straight on how much vertically integrated S3/Diamond really is compared to ATI and 3dfx. 3dfx designs chips and manufactures boards at Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. ATI designs chips and manufactures boards (not sure to what extent). S3 designs chips and Diamond buys boards from Taiwanese contract manufacturers such as Gainward. Note the difference. This raises a question. Will S3 attempt to buy a large Asian board manufacturer?
