Merger complete. Communication markets buzzing with activity. McGinn stated they are on track to meet financial goals. Probably will exceed them IMO. Good acquisition, more coming.

Broker rating changes have been few and far between.

I'm looking and expecting some rating changes in the near term.

ASND shareholders had plenty of time to sell out if they did not like the merger. LU stock trading at all time highs made it easy for them to jump if they wanted.

Good luck to all.

MMW,

I don't think we disagree at all on this point. The NX64000 is a great piece of hardware and the combined teams of LU/ASND/Nexabit will work the software issue.

I agree that software is a major part of a router. Look for ASND to help big time in this area. I believe the combined team will provide the software to create a solid product line. If you don't think they have the talent , then we disagree.

Lucent is using Yurie and Asnd ATM switches. They didn't have the time to create these products "time to market", thus they purchased the products and will integrate the technologies. Some would say Lucent had the core optical, Asnd had the core ATM and now Nexabit has the core terabit routing hardware. The combined team will provide the integrated software.

Lucent has delivered trial 6400 to a number of vendors. This is a gigabit solution, not a terabit solution. Nexabit was partnering to integrated the NX64000 with the Lucent optical system, before the buy-out.

Lucent was late to the Data game. They are #1 in the optical DWDM area. Now with Asnd they are #1 in the core ATM area. With Nexabit they have the core terabit routing hardware, when combined with the LU 80 channel 400g system will provide the total core solution.
