Thread,

In my previous post #4346 (to which this replies) I stated:

"...then they have certainly found at least a match in FSAN, which has the potential to perform far beyond the delivery capabilities of current HFCs."

Of course, I was alluding to the delivery of traditional data services, newer forms of DSL, and all of those POTS standby services, primarily. I wasn't referring to commercial grade program video services which would (or could?) be comparable (or superior?) to what the Cable industry has been able to deliver up until now, and plans to deliver when they open up the digital spectrum.

Would anyone care to explain how the LECs could, or plan to, deploy program TV video services using the FSAN model at this time? Has MPEG over VDSL proved to be a viable means in those situations where it has already been deployed? What do the economics look like?

I know that these capabilities are covered in the standards, but are they scaleable in a time frame that would make a difference, given the leads that cable TV and various wireless and satellite forms currently enjoy? If not, what is the ILEC regime's official posture on this matter?

Regards, Frank Coluccio
