I don't go to NYC either. I hate traffic. I like country roads where I see a car every 10 miles or so.

Thing that got me about the DC beltway was all the stranded and abandoned cars.

I'm not driving in Bloomington today with the 'Vette show in town. Bumper to bumper fiberglass.

I take exception to that...well, only a little :-)... The Beltway carries much more traffic than it was engineered for, and the political clout of affluent communities like Chevy Chase ensured an excess of curves at the top. During some times of day, and on certain sections, it is terrible. Mostly, though, Washington traffic is better than traffic around NYC, especially places like the Cross Bronx or 95 from the GW Bridge to New Rochelle...
