Amazing story about your sister. I'm glad it didn't leave her messed up.
As for my cliché comment - I don't mean that as a dismissal. I acknowledge it's very often true. And I don't want to demean those people who use suicide or near-suicide in a desperate and sometimes unwitting call for Some Serious Attention Over Here, Please.

I had a boy who was in my 7th grade class stick a .22 rifle between his eyes and pull the trigger with his big toe. He was well liked even if different but we never knew what he went home to. A druggist down the street from my dad's store got up and bit the barrel of a .357 when pulling the trigger at 4 am, he couldn't take the hours that it took to be country club. His brother had a fishing camp in Canada and living a dream life felt bad about his brother and a year later munched a .35 Remington at the same hour. A neighbor of my parents chewed the barrel of a 12 ga. because of some shady car deals and he was afraid if the steel bracelets. I, you, we can't stop this. It happens. I wish I could remember my bigger thought.

I did go to AA one night thinking about getting on the wagon. I met a guy who was deformed facially. He said when he quit drinking he sucked on the barrel of a 12 gauge shot gun and pulled the trigger. I said that tells me about the right side of your head but what happened to your lips? He said the fire of the muzzle blast burned them off. No thanks.
