Forgive me for my lack of expertise on this topic, but I would just like to pass along something that is happening in Houston, TX---construction crews are tearing up major thoroughfares, using boring machines to drill below the road surface. then it looks like they are putting some type of cable under the roadway. this cable, pardon the analogy, is contained on huge circular wheels, kinda like what you would see for a garden hose--except these wheels are 10 feet tall. one crew worker said this is fiber optic cable. this is happening in a very upscale part of town. anybody know what's going on? is this happening in other cities? what companies, if any, will benefit? thanks.
