Hi TB,

Tumalo Telecom is a development stage company that hopes to take advantage of the IPv6/VoIP revolution in rural and semirural settings where the PSTN is inadequate to allow DSL and the MSOs have not penetrated. Basically a wireless LAN, probably utilizing 2.4 and 5.2 Ghz frequency ranges to provide broadband connectivity to a widely dispersed 'neighborhood'. If we can put together a system here with economic viability, we hope to take it to several other remote, but well-to-do and technologically sophisticated locales. At the present time, the line-up of vendors and the products I have research indicate that I will have to wait for at least one more generation (Moore's Law) of RF gear before we can become viable. Or, to be brief, "an ISP on steroids".

To be truthful here, the other definition of 'virtual', as in nonexistant, also applies here.<g> The research that has gone into the Tumalo Telecom project has also provided a number of good candidates for my investment portfolio. Which will eventually bankroll the project. Which will pay for more investment, etc....
