If I recall my tax law correctly and it has not changed, alternative minimum tax applies to items of tax preference, and capital gains are a tax preference item. I don't have a clue what ISO's are; if you are referring to stock options issued pursuant to employment, I don't believe they are a tax preference item; instead, the difference between the exercise price and the FMV on the date of exercise is ordinary income taxed at ordinary income rates.
