For further possibilities about China/US relations, read the two books by Patrick Robinson, "The Nimitz Class" and "The Kilo Class." I may be off on the titles, but the words Nimitz and Kilo will find them. Robinson is England's answer to Tom Clancy and he unfolds a gripping scenario about what China is doing to get the US 6th Fleet out of the Taiwan and South China Sea areas.

I agree, Les, about the public stmts and was a bit surprised to see them. I can't get into stratford right now but will try later. I get their redalerts, but must have skipped over that one.
