<<Wonder what the crime situation would be if those of us with guns put a sticker on the house saying something like "This Property Protected by Smith&Wesson" and people like Christine put a sticker saying "This house is a gun-free zone"?>>

I gotta forget the dogs, beware of owner on my door. Ain't been burgled yet.

<<Good explanation. I remember arguing with a man who insisted that if he saw someone trying to steal the battery out of his car or his boat he'd shoot to kill. I know he's wrong, but maybe guys like him make the world a little safer for the rest of us.>>

When my friend worked for Gotti a pair of dummies stole his spare tire. Word went out that the first one was a gimme but don't steal any more. They did it again. My friend said that when they took the guys out on the boat they were worried being wrapped in chains and concrete. Sammy Gravano told them to take a big breath before they hit the water and start counting. They got happy thinking they would get pulled up after a short time. Sammy said nope but you'll know how long you can hold your breath until you die. Erased those guys smiles and stopped the theft of spares in Queens.

About the signs ---
Suppose I posted "S&W" and lied? Suppose I posted "gun-free zone" and lied. If the S&W house was robbed and no S&W was to be found, could I be accused of deceptive advertising? If I shot some one with a hunting bow in my gun-free house could I be sued for enticement or an attractive nuisance?
