It is so funny that you say that. I ran across this same thing several years ago.

Actually the spelling comradery is correct, from comrade, friendship.

As well as camaraderie, spirited goodwill among friends.

I think it depends on which dictionary you use, besides it didn't come up 'red' with SI's spellchecker <this one did. <ggg>

Boy oh boy, I couldn'y resist this one. Camaraderie is actually a french word. No diminutive - letter for letter. It means Familiarity, understanding, solidarity between "camarades" (french for comrads). Comrad decends from the same french word - "camarade", meaning brother in arms originally, but now generally accepted as meaning friends having the same goals.
