B: Brazil: palmtop sales rise

3Com has already sold 90,000 palmtop computers in Brazil, of which
only 10,000 corresponding to corporate clients, but the company
believes that that segment will triple sales in the future. 3Com sells
3 types of palmtop computers in the country, with prices ranging from
R$350 to R$1,400. Hewlett Packard will introduce in Brazil within the
next months the Jornada420 handheld computer to compete with 3Com's
products. Compaq will start promoting its Aero 2130 palmtop computer in
Brazil as of next month. Microtec of Brazil assembles Everex's palmtop
kits in Ilheus, State of Bahia, which are sold under the Pocket brand
in the country with prices ranging from US$550 to US$750.

How about the long rumored AT&T deal? Is 3COM an investor of EXTR and JNPR? 3COM should reap huge capital gain in these investment.
