Started By: Level Head Date: Jun 26 1999 4:08PM ET I have started this thread in support of the "Webnode 3": Jeff Mitchell, Bill Ulrich, and Janice Shell. Contributions should be sent to the following address: Webnode Legal Defense Fund c/o Attorney Herbert Mendelsohn 110 Washington Avenue North Haven, CT 06473 These folks have gone to extraordinary lengths to expose fraudulent and shady OTC:BB stocks and other scams. As one part of this effort, they have run April Fools joke web sites with amazing claims, trying to encourage investors to think, and check, before investing. In 1999, one of the gags was WebNode.com, selling "nodes" of the Next Generation Internet. The next day (and 2000 inquiries later), the April Fools announcement was made, but one company that carried a press release, Business Wire, decided it was not funny. They have brought a lawsuit against these folks, having somehow convinced themselves that these three are "bad guys". They are wrong, of course. I have learned that although the fund is just getting started, it has already run into the thousands of dollars. I have this day sent a check to double it, and have made other contributions to the process as well. These folks need, and deserve, our support. Messages that follow will direct interested parties to a synopsis of the case, and other related subjects.
