Robert, I also enjoy reading your posts. Its amazing how shorters were e-mailing me their 'stories' and I saw many of them were just traders like ourselves and not nefarious or manipulative people at all. A few of them actually thought I was embarking on a calculated, attempt to 'get them'.. which I found very ironic and a little amusing. My idea was to let them know, in the same way I discovered, that neither the "shorts" nor "longs" were bad people just because they shorted any more than we were bad because we went long. If one or two were more outspoken and 'created' the stereotype of the 'short' trader, the stereotype shouldn't be attached to every one of them indiscriminately.

I thought just a simple explanation of the trading strategies we 'longs' used would help them out of their animosity and see that we are not attempting to manipulate anything at all. The explanation really helped to clear the air for a few, but I doubt it will have any long term effects. I guess the school teacher in me sometimes gets the upper hand..
