Ellen: I'm sorry but as a matter of law you are just plain wrong. The original mandate of Starr was indeed Whitewater and that mandate was expanded several times with the concurrence of AG Reno and a three judge panel. As to the Lewinski matter, Starr as a prosecutor was presented with evidence that the President: (i) affirmatively lied to the American people; (ii)lied in a judicial proceeding; (iii)presented or caused to be presented evidence to a tribunal which he knew was false; and (iv)used the power of his office to conceal all of the foregoing. This was also presented to the AG and three judge panel and added to the list. As it turns out, the allegations were factual and only the lowest form of partisan politics and cowardice of those elected to Congrss kept the scumbag in the Oval Office. Starr's methods were not unusual (despite liberal rantings to the contrary) and IMO he gave Bubba a big leg up by warning him about the evidence he had obtained so that Bubba could stay away form obvious lies in his GJ testimony. Starr has been unfairly vilified by the public and I'm confident that history will be more kind in its treatment. I would agree that Starr has a political tin ear. The criminal conspiracy known as the Clinton Presidency will also I'm confident be merely a pornographic footnote in the books. JLA
