I really don't know that much about "METRICOM" except that they only have about 30,000 customers,or I should say subscribers.Who knows how much is given away for advertisement these days. Subscribers are mostly concentrated in and around the D.C., SF Bay,and Seattle area to my knowledge.
With it's radio technology, it must be subject to some transmission limitations, some on this thread would probably have more knowledge than I. I also don't know what the cost of there modem is, which you need. I do know that the don't have software for Windows NT, which you would think that most business people use on the road.
They do seem to stress this is good for you when your away from your office, but I don't believe this to be true. The reason for that is, I believe in the not to distant future we will all be able to the internet at most of your better hotels and airports to broadband,(which is faster in my apinion) for a small fee.
With the exception of the little shops around that change the oil in your car TWICE A MONTH as Heather had mentioned earlier.. <vbg>

Another Wireless Question....

I asked the other night/early AM what all of you thought about the $600 million cash addition for Metricom/Ricochet from Vulcan Ventures/PA and MCI....I would hope some more of you could look at this site, and especially the page about who is on the Board!....

It seems to me that this is a large dollar investment.....and I am very curious what you all think might be in the works, and especially how this might involve GNET... Thanks! KLP
