Taxation of earned income was illegal, Christine. I am not brainwashed. And deduction of tax from paychecks was also illegal and pushed through as a temporary, emergency measure by Roosevelt during WWII. After the war the U.S. illegally kept it in place.

The U.S. was not the dismal hell you describe. Ha-ha! People all over the world were leaving everything behind to get here -- even their families.
