Danny the reason you do not care about broadband at home is your kids but lots of people do not have little kids..when they grow up you will have plenty of time at home and then you'll want it..I know I have 4 kids under 10 and if I try to go online at home it is like almost impossible unless of course they are asleep like right now..... Since I have nothing intelligent to add to this thread at this time but still would like to participate I have appointed myself the official "long list patrol agent" figuring no one else would really want or care about this job...#63 long has put GNET under his favorite stocks in the personal profile and I therefore withdraw my objection to him being on the list..please be certain you all long listers have GNET there or you will be hearing from me! Was anyone a bit concerned about Puna's brother saying he has his entire retirement plan or IRA in GNET? Party on the Big Island...only my most favorite place in the entie world..... now you guys are really talking my language...more on this later.

You're right Dany...at this point cost is the issue because a lot of folks like youself don't use the net much, but without exception, everyone I know that does use it frequently is "salivating" for broadband. I can surf through all my investing info and SI posts in a fraction of the time that I could with a 56k hook up. Ever had a friend send you an e mail attachment that is so huge it takes 15 minutes to download, only to see that it is some stupid cartoon joke, etc. ? now it loads in seconds. This gives me more time to do other "real life" things.
I think that the difference is that 56k modems are a product (one time purchase) whereas fat pipes are a service (monthly cost). This may be why the grass roots movement isn't there.
