Then how do you explain CPQ's in process demise while Dell excels? Do not kid yourself, excellent management and execution is the key to survival during a consolidating, price competitive market.

Notice how GTW was the first to link internet access to its boxes. Notice how CPQ and CPU are trying sell plain old PCs to consumers without effectively linking internet access and other consumer goods. Why am I not surprised then that GTW is creating brand loyalty while CPQ (and CPU) fall by the wayside? I call CPQ a guesser, an "also ran", while I call GTW an innovator, a bold leader. Why is it that CPQ can't learn from GTW's success? It has everything to do with management.
