Bill, << Companies can learn from past mistakes >> It is true that company can learn from past mistake. I don't want to argue with you simply just state my observation from past a couple years. This GRF which is ASND acquired box has been out there since 1996. Two and half years pasted there is no significant improvement has been made. Now ASND is acquired by LU. My friends at ASND told me that there is big concerned over wether LU can hand out LU stock option grant like ASND used to year after year(Evergreen Program). I am skeptical of the notion that ASND would be big help to LU. You may not understand how important SOP to the engineers in the Silicon Valley. << Are you aware that ~3 years ago LU was AT&T Network Systems? Are you aware that Lucent has purchase some ~20 companies in the data area? Do you think Lucent was aware that their ability to produce data equipment was lacking, thus they purchase those data companies?>> I am aware the separation of AT&T and LU in 1996 since I have been AT&T stock holder since 1988. The point I try to make is in your message. I think LU has tremendous technological advantage especially in the fiber optical area, but so far they have not demonstrated that strength to the data equipment. They have not introduced a creditable data equipment their own so far. All I have seen is they use their patent portfolio to suit others and try to slow other people down. ASND is one of their victim. I do not know how long they can change that around.
