I just started reading the book. I got the info about relative wealth from another source and can't remember the details. Income tax cuts into income, not wealth. Both people have/had most of their wealth in stock which isn't taxed until sold. Both live/lived a relatively modest life considering their huge wealth. Page 365 of the book describes some incredible growth in Standard Oil stock. It paid dividends of 31% in 1896 and 33% in 1897 and 1898, and the price appreciated from 176 to 458. Hypergrowth isn't confined to modern times.

Mike! How could you! I was just checking the Qualcomm board at the Fool and found posts from you there!

I thought you were true to us! Oh, well, I guess you just have to spread it around. :0)
