Long-term politicians are why we need term limits. In my home state, George Nethercut (who ousted Tom Foley), recently reneged on his pledge for a limit to the terms he would seek. This practice, politician for life, spans both parties.

Re: Dole book

Thanks for the info but, I don't think I will take time to read it. It seems to me that Bob Dole is no longer in the picture and, whatever happened in the past is water under the bridge. That, of course, doesn't make it right but, as you say, any long-term politico has similar skeletons in their closets. Such accounts may slop over on Elizabeth though and hamper any campaign she may attempt.

I have not heard of any political favors, or inside info, being given out by GW. I may be just too naive, but the last I heard was that all purchases of state government property was done by auction, or closed bid negotiation.
